Dr. Phil Dover is an Emeritus Professor of Marketing at Babson College. While at Babson he taught courses mainly on Strategic Market Planning, the Marketing of High Technology Products and Global Marketing while being heavily involved in instructing on Marketing and Strategy topics at Babson’s School of Executive Education (BEE). During his Babson tenure he served as the first Director of the International MBA program, a full-time Faculty Director at BEE, and the Chair of the Marketing Division. At BEE he led custom executive education programs, often with a strong corporate entrepreneurship flavor, for major companies such as Siemens, Sony, McKinsey, Eriksson, Infineon Technologies, Waters and Drager. Recently, he took a leave of absence from Babson to become the Dean of the Business School at the University of Buckingham, the UK’s only private university. Here he created the first degree-granting program in Europe to have students start and run their own businesses as an integral part of their studies.
Dr. Dover’s academic and business interests lie in the management of high technology products and services, entrepreneurial management, strategic market planning, and services marketing. He teaches, consults, and publishes widely in these areas, collaborating with a number of multinational corporations and offering seminars at leading European business schools. He undertakes cooperative applied research projects with academic colleagues (currently in the UK, Germany and China) and industry practitioners. A particularly successful ongoing joint research project has led to the publication of a number of papers, substantial commercial interest and the formulation of a start-up company (MEL Institute). After marketing management positions with British Petroleum and Nestlé, Dr. Dover taught at the Amos Tuck School (US) and IMD (Switzerland). In addition to instructing at Babson, he has served as a Visiting Professor at Cranfield School of Management in the UK. He is active on the Advisory Boards of a number of SME’s and Not-for-Profit organizations.
